Rector Arben Hajrullahu

Arben Hajrullahu, studied Political Science (as his primary discipline), Southeast European History, Comparative Public Law, Public and Communications Sciences, and German at the Universities of Prishtina (1994), Graz (1995 – 1999), Vienna (2000 – 2005), and Huddersfield (2002). He has conducted extensive research and has been widely published on the Western Balkans. His PhD thesis on EU Integration and Sustainable Peace-Building in the Western Balkans won the Dr. Alois Mock Europe Foundation Award in 2005. It was published by NOMOS Publishing House in October 2007. From 2000 to 2003, he worked as a researcher at the Center for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz. He was a scientific member of the Austrian Institute for International Affairs in Vienna between 2003 and 2005. From 2007 to 2011, he worked as a freelance senior researcher at the European Academy of Bolzano. During the academic year 2007 – 2008, he was a Humphrey Fulbright Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington DC. For more than two decades, he also worked as an expert and senior advisor for local and international institutions. Since 2005 he has served as a professor at the University of Prishtina, Department of Political Science, and since October 1, 2024, Arben Hajrullahu holds the position of Rector of the University of Prishtina.
